I know that I've been gone for a while -- my mother passed away on June 6th, and I've been absolutely overwhelmed dealing with everything. I'm just about ready to return to my normal life, and that means that my blogs will be returning too. I look forward to reconnecting with my site visitors -- keep an eye out for me in late September!

No matter how positive you try to be, there is still a lot of stupidity you have to deal with in the world. This weekly blog is intended to be a rant about anything and everything that drives me up a wall (these damned wrong-number dialers -- what the hell do we do about them?) Before you jump my case for outlawing the state of Texas or executing waiters who get your order wrong, realize that I'm pulling a Jonathan Swift here -- I'm not actually suggesting that the English cook Irish babies for dinner. Digital Rights Management -- Let's Get A Sense Of Perspective, Here

As a creator of original words and images, I wholly support copyright law. No one wants to have their hard work used by another without fair compensation. But the Recording Industry Association Of America has officially crossed a line and become an organization of digital rights Nazis -- wanting to track your every movement and control what you do with media that you have rightfully purchased. It's time to put a stop to this nonsense!

Go Ahead And Let Texas Seccede -- Good Riddance

The other day, I tripped over gubernatorial candidate Larry Kilgore's Facebook page supporting Texas Seccession. I'm tempted to become a supporter, but not for the same reasons as the other nearly 1,500 people who have signed on as fans. I think that Texan politicians have done more harm to this country than good, and I'm fine with them seceding -- hasta la vista, baybee!

A Fair Income Tax Is No Income Tax -- Part 2

Last week I blogged about how broken our income tax system is (and it felt good, too!) But it's pointless to bitch without offering a solution -- so this week, I want to talk about the concept of a "Fair Tax" to replace all the existing income and payroll taxes.

A Fair Income Tax Is No Income Tax -- Part 1

I just recently got on Facebook -- and this week, I was invited to join the Fair Tax group. I've always felt that the income tax system is irreparably broken -- but I believe in having the facts to back up your claims, so here's a rant about all the reasons why the income tax is unconstitutional, wasteful, and just plain wrong.
